Under 16 Division II (Section II)
Thursday 11th June
Doire Trasna 2-00 St. Patricks 6-12

The Under 16's took to the council playing fields on Trench Road in Derry last Thursday night to play Doire Trasna in the penultimate league game, knowing a victory would almost guarantee them crowned section II champions. In a one sided match, in which the City side failed to score in the first half (3-9 to 0-0) the result was never in doubt!

In total six goals where scored by the minors, three in each half. The Drum men performed the duties in the first half, Connor O’Reilly scoring twice and Alex Moore once. In the second half it was the turn of the Drumsurn men to find the net. Goals from Oran Devlin, Ciaran and then Daryl Mullan sealed the victory.

On the night the Under 16's were not really challenged or tested. There were some good performances from Connor O’Reilly, Alex Moore, Danial Mullan, Cahir Friel, Daryl Mullan and Eion Ferris.

It was good to see the younger members of the team like Michael O’Kane, Ciaran Mullan and Oran Devlin all register scores. This was an opportunity for the Manager Seamus Mullan to try new things on the pitch prior to Sunday’s Carlin Duffy Cup final. In the second half he made numerous substitutions and moved Daryl Mullan and Conor O’Reilly into midfield, Cahir Friel into centre half back and Michael McGonigle into full back.

As section winners the minors now face Dungiven in a play off match as they look favourites to come through as division two section one winners.
