Dear friend of St Matthews,
On behalf of our committee, let me first of all start by wishing you all a happy and prosperous 2011.
St Matthews GAC, which combines both Gaelic football and Camogie codes, continues to be a key focal point for the entire Drumsurn area, and indeed each year our excellent facilities are extensively used by many within the wider community.
The promotion of Gaelic games, and the provision of excellent facilities for our young, remains the number one priority for our club. However, in recent years, the financial challenges faced by small rural GAA clubs such as our own, have increased considerably. Indeed within the current economic climate, fundraising has also become much more difficult.
In the past, the main stay of our club’s finances was always our weekly bingo. However, due to rapidly declining attendance numbers, we were unfortunately faced with no alternative but to end the bingo in the early part of 2010.
Not having the bingo has placed much more emphasis and importance on our weekly club lotto. Lotto tickets, which cost £1 per week, are sold and a weekly draw is held, normally on a Friday night. Our priority as we go into 2011 is to maximise the revenue generated from the weekly lotto via increased ticket sales.
Often in the past it has been mentioned, that others within the wider Drumsurn community would gladly play the club Lotto if they were asked on a weekly basis to purchase a ticket. With the pressure on people’s time etc it is understandable that this may well be the case, and as a result, we have now set up a direct debit facility for those wishing to participate.
So how will it work?
At the bottom of this page is a link a standing order application form inviting you to purchase your lotto ticket in advance. For as little as £13 per quarter, you can enter one ticket in our weekly lotto draw (obviously you can purchase more than one ticket if you so wish!) As we hope to roll out the programme on the 1st May 2011, all completed standing orders must be with our bank before March 25th 2011.
Completed application forms should be returned to any of the following committee members
Joe McHugh, Dermot Rafferty, Marisa Mullan, Martina McHugh, Eunan Rafferty, Aidan Rafferty, Martin Mullan, Michelle Friel, Karen Doran, Ian Mullan, Eamon Ferris, Eunan McGilligan, Richard Ferris, Katrina Burke, Caroline Mullan, Colm Feeney (Jnr), Terry McGilligan, Ciaran Mullan, Ronan McNickle, Anthony Doran, Michael Coll, Jolene Feeney, Colin McNicholl
Could I finally take this opportunity to thank you for your support in the past, and I would appeal to you to consider making this further contribution to our club via the purchase of a weekly lotto ticket.
